5 Little Monsters: Giveaway Day: Sedge Stitch Dishcloths

Giveaway Day: Sedge Stitch Dishcloths

A couple of times every year Sew Mama Sew  hosts a big giveaway day and this year I have decided to participate. If you are visiting from there for the first time, welcome. If you didn't come from there than you should go check it out. There are tons of giveaways in two different categories, supplies and handmade items.

For those of you who may be visiting for the first time let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Erica and my husband and I have 5 young kids, our 5 little monsters. A lot of the things that I make are inspired by my husband and kids. I love to make things, all sorts of things. Here on my blog I share a lot of those projects. Most of my projects fall into the categories of crochet, sewing or embroidery. With 5 little kids I like projects that are somewhat portable so I can work on them wherever my kids are. That is the biggest reason I do a lot of crocheting and embroidery, but I also love to sew so whenever I have the chance I like to sit down at my sewing machine to sew something.  I often share free patterns or tutorial for my projects or links to the pattern if it was not my own original design.

Here are some examples of the projects you will find here:

Over the last couple of months I have shared several crochet dishcloth/washcloth patterns so I am starting to have quite a collection. I have them set aside to have if I ever need a little gift or something. I decided to use one of the sets as a giveaway today.

A couple of weeks ago I shared the pattern for these Sedge Stitch Dishcloths and today I am giving the set away. It includes 3 dishcloths each approximately 9 inches square in mint, white and a coral pink color. These are my very favorite crochet dishcloths or washcloths. They have a  really nice texture and I think that the stitch looks really pretty. To enter the giveaway use the Rafflecopter below and if you want to make your own you can get the pattern here.

  39. I don't know what the name is for my favorite way to craft, other than "making." Some of my favorite projects have been taking multiple items and putting them together, like making a lace covered mask headband to match my youngest's Homecoming dress & theme. Or when I used shells to make a "B" on a canvas I had painted, for my Mom & Dad's Florida house.

  43. I think I love knitting more than other crafts. I love sewing but the reality is, I want to sew in large chunks of time and it is infinitely easier to carry my knitting with me. My latest crochet project grew beyond portable and I set it aside months ago. Again because knitting is so much more portable.

  61. Love the colors! Thanks for sharing the pattern too. I'm a new crochet-er so I'm always looking for easy and small projects like this. Did you use cotton yarn? I haven't made any yet because I was wondering how they hold up in the wash. Do you throw them in the Washer and Dryer? They don't unravel too badly?

    1. I always use 100% cotton yarn and I have never had any problems with them coming unraveled in the wash. Just make sure that you weave all of your ends in when you finish. I have had some shrink a little but that is the only issue I have had and where it is not something I am wearing I don't care if there is a little bit of shrinkage.
