5 Little Monsters: One Year of 5 Little Monsters

One Year of 5 Little Monsters

Last night I was talking to my husband about our blogs, we both started a blog around the same time, and he mentioned that he had recently hit his one year mark. I knew I started my blog shortly after he did so I went back and looked at my posts to see when I published my first post. It was June 24, 2014. One year ago today. It's crazy to think that it has been a whole year. I still feel like I am so new to blogging, and still trying to figure it all out.

I was so nervous to publish my first few posts, I didn't know what kind of response I would get and it was kind of hard for me to put myself out there for the whole world to see, but I am so glad I did. It has been a really fun adventure so far. I have absolutely loved seeing things people have made using my patterns and reading the comments on my posts. Since starting this blog I have had so many amazing opportunities come my way, some that I will be sharing soon, and I am excited to see what the next year brings.

I thought it would be fun, in celebration of the first year of 5 Little Monsters, to go through and look at my top ten posts from the past year. All of my top ten are crochet projects and it seems like hats, dishcloths/washcloths and blankets are the most popular. So, without further ado here are the top ten posts from June 2014- June 2015:

#10 Berry Scarf

Coming in at number 10 of my top ten posts is the Berry Scarf. This scarf was a fun chance for me to play with a new yarn and a new stitch and I really liked them both.

#9 X's & O's Dishcloth

The X's & O's Dishcloth was the first in a series of four Valentines Day themed dishcloths that I made and the most popular of the 4. Bobble stitches represented the O's and crossed double crochets created the X's.

#8 Crocheted Football Helmet Hats

Number 8 on the list is my Football Helmet Hat pattern. I first made on of these hats long before I started my blog. I really liked it so I decided to make the pattern in several different sizes and add it to my blog. I guess other people liked it too since it is on this list.

#7 Textured Toddler Beanie

The Textured Toddler Beanie came in at number 6. Made with bulky yarn this thick, squishy hat works up really fast and the pattern is available in two sizes.

#6 Anchor Baby Hats

Another hat comes in at number 6, post for the Anchor Baby Hat includes the pattern for a striped newborn size hat and a little anchor appliqué to put on the front. This was one of the very first patterns I posted and I recently posted about some hats that I made using this pattern but in different colors.

#5 Kennedy's Flower Garden Baby Blanket

Kennedy's Flower Garden Blanket is one of my more recent patterns and one of my favorites. It is actually my most popular post in the last 30 days.

#4 Blossom Stitch Washcloths

The Blossom Stitch Washcloths are number 4 on the list. These washcloths have a lacy, feminine look  but still a nice solid texture. I originally made them as a Mother's Day gift idea.

#3 Sedge Stitch Dishcloths

The last dishcloth pattern on the list is the Sedge Stitch Dishcloth. These are probably my favorite dishcloths, I love the texture the stitch gives them and I think it looks pretty too.

#2 Triangle & Stripes Baby Blanket

The second most popular pattern is another one of my earliest but it continues to be one of my most viewed. The Triangle & Stripes Baby Blanket uses a combination of double crochet and chain stitches to create a geometric type pattern. I have enjoyed seeing some of the blankets made using this pattern on Ravelry.

#1 Crochet Mannequin Head

My number 1, most popular post over the last year is the very first pattern that I ever posted. It has always been one of the most popular patterns on my blog. The Crochet Mannequin Head. It has also been on my to-do list for nearly a year to make it in more sizes. That is something that I need to get done soon, I have had so many requests to make it in different sizes, everything from preemie up to adult. I have started on them, I just need to get all of the patterns written up. Hopefully soon there will be more sizes available.

Those are my top ten posts from my first year of blogging. I have so many more ideas to share and patterns to post, I can't wait to see what year 2 brings. Thanks for reading and supporting my blog.
