I have been wanting to get a cutting machine for a while so I was really excited when a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to team up with Cricut and not only get a brand new Cricut Explore Air, but also get together with a group of local bloggers for an evening of crafting and learning how to use my new machine. We made little baby onesies or bibs that night and I thought it would be fun to share the one that I made.
When it came time to come up with a design my mind went blank. I felt like the least creative person in the world. I couldn't think of anything at all to put on a little baby shirt. It really shouldn't have been that hard but I was stuck on the fact that the very next morning was our ultrasound where we were going to find out if we were having a boy or a girl so I didn't know yet. I was feeling like it was a boy but I didn't really want to design a boy shirt and then find out the next morning that we were having a little girl or vice versa. I wanted something that would work either way.
After the ultrasound the next day we were heading to FanX, Salt Lake Comic Con's spring event, where my husband was going to be speaking on a panel called Geeky Parenting: Raising Generation 2.0. When I thought of that I decided it would be cute to make a little onesie that said Future Geek. It could go either way and it would be fun to give my husband the day before his panel. Once I decided what I wanted it to say I just played around with different fonts until I found a combination I liked. I originally was going to just cut it out all from black but at the last minute I decided to use gray for one of the words and black for the other. I used regular black iron on for geek and for Future I used a flocked gray iron on. Then I just pressed them onto a 0-3 month onesie/baby bodysuit (it wasn't Gerber brand so it wasn't technically a onesie, that is just what I always call them so it is hard for me to call them anything else).
