-This post sponsored by Oriental Trading Company. I was sent product to review, all ideas and opinions are my own-
I ordered some canvas bags that were the perfect size for the kids to carry around. They are about 10" x 12" and come in a variety of colors, either primary or neon colors, and there are a dozen in each pack which means I have leftovers to use for another project.
Then, just to make them a little more fun and unique, I cut out some iron on vinyl and put it on the front of each bag. It would be really easy to personalize the bags with anything you wanted, I thought about putting different things on each bag but in the end I decided to keep it simple and put the same thing on all of them.
Each of the kids chose a different color and for the boy's bags I just used black iron-on to add the Trick-or-Treat to the front of the bag, for the girl's bags I used some scraps of glitter and metallic iron-on that I had. They turned out to be the perfect quick and easy trick or treat bags, not a lot of effort on my part but still sort of made by me, kind of semi-handmade I guess.
While I was ordering the bags I also picked up some fun stuff to hand out to trick-or-treaters that come to our house. They had a lot of stuff to choose from but I ended up deciding to get a Halloween treasure chest filled with little toys and a bag of candy.
How to Make Quick & Easy Trick or Treat Bags
You will need:
- medium canvas bags (primary or neon)
- iron-on vinyl in desired colors
- Cricut Explore or other vinyl cutting machine
- Cricut Design Space File if using a Cricut and you want to use the same design I did
- iron
- pressing cloth
Instructions:
Cut out the designs you have chosen on your cutting machine. If you are using a Cricut you can click the link above to get the design I used for my bags. My design was approximately 4" x 6" which was a good size to fit on the front of the bag and still have plenty of room around the sides. Remember when you are cutting your design to cut it mirror image for iron-on.
After you have cut and weeded your design place it on the bag where you want it to be. You may want to iron the bag a little bit first, some of mine where a little wrinkly. Lay your pressing cloth over the top and iron on according to the directions for the kind of vinyl you are using. Peel of the backing and you're done. Super easy.
These only took a few minutes for me to make all 6 of the bags for my kids and I thought they turned out really cute. Perfect for a busy Halloween time. Be sure to head over to Oriental Trading Company to see all of the stuff they have for Halloween as well as other upcoming holidays.
