Trick or Treat BOO! Bag

A couple weeks ago I was challenged to make a Halloween project that took no more than 15 minutes. I made a simple little sign that said BOO! on it. I painted the wooden sign and cut the design from vinyl with my Cricut. As I was cutting out the sign I thought that I could easily adapt the design to make a trick or treat bag. It was a simple way to repurpose the design I created for one project to make another.

The original design was layered vinyl, a white circle with the word boo cut out of black vinyl and placed on top of the circle. For the bag I instead sliced the word out of the circle so you see the fabric of the bag where the word is. I ordered a bunch of plain bags from Oriental Trading Company to make trick or treat bags, I made some last year and they worked really well so I decided to do the same again this year. They have bags in several sizes and colors, for this I used the white canvas bags that are approximately 12" x 12". I ordered several types of bags and will be sharing a few more Trick or Treat bags over the next week or so leading up to Halloween. They also have candy and non-food options to hand out for Halloween, as well as lots of other Halloween decor, crafts, costumes, and more.

How to Make a Trick or Treat BOO! Bag

You will need:

• a canvas bag
• a cutting machine (I used my Cricut Maker)
• glitter iron on (htv)
• iron or heat press

Instructions:

Since I used my Cricut to cut the design for my bag I created the design in Cricut Design Space (you can use my design if you are using design space) but it is a simple design and can easily be recreated in any design software. Start with a circle shape, type the word BOO! in whatever font you want. Place the word on top of the circle and slice the word from the circle. Delete the extra words sliced out of the circle and you should be left with only a circle with the word cut out of the middle of it. 

Cut and weed your design, then center of your bag and press in place.
