I love the texture that can be created by combining different crochet stitches. My goal when designing this hat was to create a hat with a lot of texture and visual interest. It combines rounds of bead stitch with rounds of half double crochet and a post stitch ribbing. A faux fur pom pom on the top finishes the hat.
The hat is an adult size and the fit is slightly slouchy. It matches the Bead Stitch Cowl pattern that can be found HERE.

ReplyDeleteLooks great. What size/age this work up for?
ReplyDeleteIt is an adult size
DeleteWhat size crochet hook is used. Instructions just say a crochet hook.
ReplyDeleteSays I hook. 6mm
DeleteJust finished this hat! It's beautiful! Thanks so much for the beautiful pattern.
ReplyDeleteDon't understand what it means in row 8 by hdc in the 3rd loop of every stitch. Could someone clarify?
ReplyDeleteHdc in the 3rd loop is explained above, but if you haven't done it before it may be tricky at first. In every previous stitch the yarn overs cause not only a V stitch, but a loop/bar on each side of the V stitch. So for this pattern hdc in the 3rd loop, you actually don't use the V stitch but you put the hdc into the stitch loop behind the V stitch. It is what makes these crochet stitches turn frontwards and stand out.
DeleteWhat is the gauge?
ReplyDeleteDo you have this pattern in a toddler size?
ReplyDeleteGood morning, thanks for this amazing pattern! I'm struggling with this instruction if you could help me: "around the post of the dc next to it"
ReplyDeleteAre you referring to front or back post? Or am I missing the mark entirely in my Monday morning brain? :)
Instead of working into the stitch below you work around the dc you just made. It isn't quite the same as a front or back post stitch because it isn't the next row, it is beside it. I am hoping to make a video in the next couple of days to help explain it better.
DeleteI'd be interested in a video on the 3rd loop thing...nit getting It!
DeleteI understood around the dc post, but then..... skip a stitch and slip stitch in dc. What next dc? Or the one you just stitched around? Thanks.
Delete...not sure what I did but I used worsted weight yarn with an i hook and it was really small..like fit my 5 year old small.
