I am joining a group of craft blogger to share projects once a month that we make with our Cricut machines. Each month we will focus on a specific material- this month is felt. There are so many things you can make with felt and cutting it on the Cricut makes it so much easier to cut detailed pieces. I used my Cricut Maker to make several felt Christmas ornaments that I gave to family members, and I have made lots of flowers both for hair clips and headbands as well as embellishments on other projects. This time I decided to make some little bowls that could be used as candy dishes or to hold other small items.
I used Cricut Brand acrylic felt for these which worked but it is a little thin, I think a wool felt would make a sturdier basket but I just used what I had on hand. I made 3 different sizes by simply adjusting the size in design space.
How to Make Felt Octagon Nesting Bowls
You will need:
Instructions:
Open the project in design space by clicking the link above. Adjust sizes as desired, I cut one at 10" one at 8", and one at 6".
Cut from felt using the rotary blade.
fold the pieces so that the edges of two of the side sections are even and stitch the opening closed. I used a small seam allowance, about 1/8" but you could use a 1/4"too. Continue sewing each of the opening closed until you have sewn all the way around. I then pinched the base of the sewn sections to crease them and flatten the bottom of the bowl.
