Spring Shells Scarf

Today I am excited to be sharing a new scarf pattern as part of the 2018 Scarf of the Month Club hosted by Oombawka Design and The Stitchin' Mommy. Each month they each share a new scarf pattern on their sites and have a guest designer that also shares a scarf pattern and today that guest designer is me!

I wanted to make a scarf that was light enough for spring since it is the middle of March and spring will officially be here in just a couple of days. I used a lacy shell stitch for my scarf. It is a simple 2 row repeat that can easily be made as short or long as you want.

I originally made my scarf just a long straight scarf but as I was trying it on I decided that I might prefer it as a circle scarf. I ended up deciding to stitch the ends together before I wore it the first time. I t works really well either way you want to make it, just a matter of personal preference.

How to Make the Spring Shells Scarf

Approx 9" x 68" or as long as desired

You will need:

Instructions:

ch 33

Row 1: sc in second ch for hook, (ch 5, skip 3, sc in next stitch) repeat to the end

Row 2: ch 5 , turn and sc in ch 5 loop, [(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next sc, sc in ch loop, ch 5, sc in next ch loop] 3 times, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next sc, ch 2, dc in last sc

Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc in first stitch, [ch 5, sc in ch sp, ch 5, sc in ch loop] 3 times, ch 5, sc in ch sp, ch 5, sc in last stitch (3rd dc from beginning ch 5)

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach the desired length

Leave as is or stitch short ends together to make a circle scarf
