Initial Pillows with Cricut Patterned Iron On

We recently moved our girls to a new bedroom so when I had the opportunity to make something with Cricut's new Patterned Iron On I knew I wanted to make something for their room. I decided to make each of them a pillowcase with their initial in a pretty frame.

We just bought eash of them new bedding in pastel colors so when I chose the patterned iron on I ordered I chose colors to match. There are 9 different sampler packs and each one comes with 3 different sheets. They are all really pretty but I ended up deciding on two watercolor type designs by Natalie Malan and one pack by Anna Griffin. I liked that they were more tonal patterns because that was what I was looking for for this project. 

I found a cute scalloped round frame in Cricut Access that I thought would work perfectly for what I wanted. It was two layer so I ungrouped the image and chose the layer I wanted to use. Then I added a letter in the center of each, the initial of each of the girls first names. I attached those together so that they would stay in place as I cut.

I chose one color from each sampler pack and cut one initial frame out of each. You cut the Patterned Iron On the same way you do any Iron On, mirror the design and place the material patterned side down. The back side is a white-ish color. 

Cut out your design, I used my Cricut Maker on the custom Patterned Iron On setting, and weed. The Patterned Iron On is really thin and weeds really easily with a weeding tool. 

I then used my EasyPress and new EasyPress Mat to press the monagrams on to the pillowcases. You can find all of the temperatures for the EasyPress HERE, but for the pillowcases I used the cotton/poly settings. First you will want to preheat the area you will be placing the iron on. I actually used the EasyPress to iron the whole pillowcase first since it had lots of creases from the packaging. Then I pressed it for 30 sec at 340 degrees. Then flip it over and press from the back for 15 sec. Patterned Iron On is cold peel so once you are done pressing from the front and back set aside and let cool before peeling off the carrier sheet.

I really liked the feel of the Patterned Iron On on the pillowcases. It was really smooth and soft. And the colors were so pretty. 

I still have lots of patterns left, as well as most of the sheets that I used for the pillows so I am excited to use what I have left to make more projects. I already picked up some t-shirts to make for my girls.
