Yesterday I shared the Jack-o'-lantern onesie that I made and mentioned that combined with a little pumpkin hat it would make a cute Halloween costume. Today I am sharing the pattern for the hat that I showed in the pictures.
I have made several pumpkin baby beanies in the past using different patterns but for this pattern I was trying to come up with something that would give some texture similar to the bumpiness of a pumpkin. I used rows of post stitches to create that texture.
I only made a baby size, it should fit about 0-3 months. I may share larger sizes later but I wanted to share this one now, with the onesie.
I used cotton yarn for this hat, Red Heart Smoothie Scrubby, even though I don't particularly like to use cotton for hats. Any similar size worsted weight yarn would work. I chose this one because I was making it specifically to match the onesie and this yarn most closely matched. I had some oranges in Red Heart Super Saver and Vanna's Choice but they were either darker with a more rusty color, or brighter, and they really didn't match this particular shirt. The green used for the stem and vine is Red Heart Super Saver.
