Mother's Day may have been yesterday but today I am participating in the month long 2019 Celebrate Mom Blog Hop hosted by Pattern Paradise. Each day in the month of May a different crochet design will share a new free crochet pattern perfect for celebrating Mom. There have been lots of great designs so far and will be even more through out the month and there are prizes too, so be sure to check out all of the details.
For my project I decided on a washcloth but then I thought it would be fun to make a whole set of bath type projects. I ended up making a coordinating washcloth, face scrubbier, makeup remover, and soap saver.
All of the projects feature the v-stitch so they all have a similar look. I chose to use 2 colors for the whole set, a neutral main color, and a coordinating color for the borders. Although I think you would do it in a lot of different ways and it would still look good, all one color, each item a different coordinating color, etc.
If I was actually making the set to give as a gift I would make a set of face scrubbies and/or makeup removers instead of just one like I made for the pictures. Add the set to a basket with pretty smelling soaps, lotions, bath bombs, face masks, or any other similar products and you have a fun spa themed gift basket to give as a gift.
How to Crochet the V-Stitch Spa Set
You will need:
- 2 colors worsted weight cotton yarn (I used Lily Sugar N Cream, depending on how many items you make you will probably need 2 of the main color and 1 of the coordinating color)
- H crochet hook
- yarn needle
- scissors
Instructions:
Washcloth
Begin by chaining 27
Row 1: (dc, ch 1, dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 4 count as a skipped ch and 1 dc), [skip 2, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next stitch] repeat until there are 2 stitches remaining, skip 1, dc in last stitch
Row 2: ch 3, turn, [ (dc, ch 1, dc) in ch 1 space] repeat in each ch space, dc in last stitch
Repeat row two until the dishcloth is desired size
Single crochet evenly around all sides of the dishcloth, working evenly into the stitches along the side, working 3 sc in each corner
Change color to your contrasting color and sc around again so that there are 2 rounds of sc around the edge. Finish off and weave in ends.
