A few months ago I shared a little newborn hat pattern that used the Lemon Peel Stitch to give it a neat texture. I really liked the way the hat turned out and thought it would be nice to make a similar hat in a larger size.
I am starting to get excited for fall and warmer weather now that the kids are back in school so I decided I wanted to make a hat. I remember that little baby hat and decided it was as good a time as any to make an adult version.
I made the hat mostly following the same style, but I changed up the bottom for a post stitch ribbing. I also added a faux fur pom pom to the top.
The top of the hat is worked in double crochet, then the main body of the hat is worked in the lemon peel stitch, which is made by alternating single and double crochet stitches.
I made it a beanie type fit, snug to the head, but if you like a slouchier fit you add more rounds of the lemon peel section to give you more length.
