It has been a while since I posted a dishcloth pattern. Life has been a little crazy lately and I haven't been able to spend as much time crocheting as I would have liked over the last few weeks. I was starting to really crave time to do something creative, I was missing spending time working on projects.
As I was thinking of a project I could work on, I had a whole list of stuff I wanted to get done, but I really wanted something that I could sit down and make start to finish. I didn't just want to work on a few rows of something, I wanted to make an entire project. When I want something quick like that dishcloths are one of my go to projects. It is a project I can take from idea to finished product in a relatively short period of time.
For this particular dishcloth I chose a variation on a v-stitch. Normally a v-stitch is a little bit more open stitch because it has a double crochet, chain, double crochet all worked in the same stitch. That chain stitch in between opens the stitch up so there is a space between the double crochet stitches. In this variation there is no chain stitch, just 2 double crochet stitches worked in the sam stitch. But, like the normal v-stitch the stitches in the next row are worked in between the double crochets rather than in the stitches.
The missing chain creates a tighter stitch with less open space, which I think is great for a dishcloth. You still get some interesting texture but also a more solid fabric.
How to Crochet the Double Double Dishcloth
You will need:
- 1 ball worsted weight cotton yarn
