I have spent pretty much my whole life, minus a few years in California when I was a little kid, living in places that get snow in the winter, and now I even live in a state that has the slogan "Greatest Snow on Earth", but I still do not really love the snow.

I mean, it is pretty when it snows, and Christmas doesn't really feel like Christmas to me without snow on the ground. But I absolutely hate driving in it and I don't really like being cold and wet so playing in it isn't my favorite either, not to mention the fact that I am way too clumsy for activities like skiing and ice skating. A nice snowstorm just before Christmas that covers the grass with snow but leaves the roads clear would be perfect, if only it worked that way.

So I crocheted a way to have some wintery fun without the wet and cold, soft, fluffy, crocheted snowballs. Just kidding, it isn't really the same thing at all, but my kids still had a blast throwing them around trying to hit people or things with the snowballs. They are super soft and light and don't hurt at all when they hit you. You could even turn them into a fun game where you have to throw them into or at something, without worrying about anyone getting hurt or breaking things.

The snowballs are crocheted with very soft, thick blanket yarn, and stuffed lightly with fiberfill. The thick yarn combined with a big hook means you can make up a whole bucketful in no time.

They also make a fun wintertime decoration, something you can keep up past Christmas. I added some vinyl to a metal bucket and filled it with the snowballs to double as decor.
