5 Little Monsters: Top 20 New Projects of 2020

Top 20 New Projects of 2020

At the end of every year I do a top posts of the year post. Since this year is 2020 I decided to do a top 20. It is always kind of fun to go back and look at the projects I have made over the past year. This year I didn't feel like I was able to get as many projects done thanks to everything that happened this year so it was neat to go back through the year and see what I was able to do. One thing that I found really interesting is that most years almost all of my top posts are crochet projects. This year there was much more of a mix, still lots of crochet but also some sewing, Cricut, and kids crafts thrown in.

So, starting with number 20 and counting down to the number one post of the year, here are 5 Little Monsters  top 20 posts of 2020:

5 Little Monsters Top 20 of 2020

20: Reading Pocket Pillow

This pillow was part of a Christmas in July Make-a-Thon, but it would be fun to make any time of the year.

19: Recycled Denim Apron

Turn an old pair of jeans into a kids art apron with this tutorial that was part of a Recycled Crafts blog hop.

18: Picot Edged Scarf

Another Blog Hop project, this one was part of the Perfect Picot Blog Hop. I loved the yarn used in this pattern, the twisted ombre was so pretty.

17: String of Beads Hat

This hat was a fun variation on a popular hat pattern I made a few years ago. It came in 17th here, but it was one of my most liked Instagram posts this year.

16: Textured Crocheted Pumpkins

I love playing around with textures in my crochet projects so these pumpkins were a fun twist on a traditional crocheted pumpkin.

15: Infusible Ink Christmas Coasters

Infusible Ink is a really cool product to work with and I really love the smooth finish on coasters, like these ones I made as part of a Christmas in July week on my blog.

14: String of Beads Hat in Child, Toddler, and Baby Sizes

The child size version of #17, this hat comes in 4 sizes for children, toddlers, and babies.

13: Harry Potter Perler Bead Designs

Perler Beads, or fuse beads, are a kid craft favorite around our house and this Harry Potter version came in at number 13 on the list. I think I will be adding more Perler Bead designs to the blog next year.

12: Los Colores Circle Scarf

Some of my favorite tips for using variegated yarn, and a 1 skein circle scarf pattern in a couple of sizes all in one post.

11: Crocheted Robot Softie

Stuffed animals and toys are some of my favorite things to crochet, and this one was really fun because the  shapes were a little different than most of the stuffed items I make.

10: Bead Stitch Stocking

Another Christmas in July pattern, this one took one of my most popular hat patterns, and transformed it into a textured Christmas stocking.

9: Crocheted Market Bag

I had wanted to make a market bag like this for a long time and finally got around to doing it. It is a great summer crochet project, for when you want to make something practical and useful, but not a hat or scarf or other cold weather accessory. This one can be used year round.

8: Criss Cross Hat

Hats are one of my favorite things to crochet, and this was one of my favorites that I made this year. I love the texture of the stitches used on this hat.

7: Third Loop Washcloth

This washcloth is made using basic stitches, but the placement of those stitches creates raised ridges.

6: Fabric Face Masks

Face masks were bound to make the list of top posts in 2020, and these aren't the only face masks, or related items, on the list, but these are the ones my family uses most of the time.

5: Crocheted Hedwig

This cute little owl could be made as a Hedwig from Harry Potter with a little Gryffindor scarf, or it can just be a snowy owl. I made it as part of a Harry Potter blog hop to celebrate Harry's birthday in July.

4: Easy Crocheted Mask Lanyards

We have made it to the top 4 and number 4 happens to be the top Crochet post of the year. This one is kind of funny to me because I almost didn't share it, it seemed a little too simple and silly so I felt kind of weird posting it. But I guess it filled a need because here it is in the number 4 spot and the most visited crochet post of 2020.

3: Cricut Joy

The number 3 spot goes to the post where I was introducing Cricut Joy, and sharing some baby shower onesie ideas. This is a fun machine and I was happy to have the opportunity to be part of the launch.

2: Summer Perler Bead Designs

Like I said above, my kids love making designs with Perler beads, and apparently they are not alone in that. As popular as my bead posts have been I think I will continue to share new designs throughout the next year. Actually, one of my goals for 2021 is to include more kid craft ideas and Perler beads are definitely on that list.

1: Tie Dyed Face Masks

And now for the top post of 2020. Surprise! It is face masks again. These tie dyed masks were a lot of fun to make. My girls love helping me make them, and we loved seeing the reveal of each design once they were done.
