5 Little Monsters: Valentine Perler Bead Designs

Valentine Perler Bead Designs

Today I am joining some other craft bloggers to share some last minute Valentine projects over the next couple of days, and a fun giveaway. When I was thinking of something I could make for a quick and easy Valentine project that you be made last minute I decided to turn to my kids favorite craft, Perler Beads. Fun for any age and they definitely fit the quick and easy requirement, although once we get them out my kids can spend hours playing and creating with them.

I came up with a few Valentine themed designs to make, all of them made on a square pegboard. You can also get heart shaped pegboards if you just want to make big hearts, but I wanted to make a variety of different designs, not just hearts.

Also, the square is such a basic shape for a pegboard that if you have perler beads you probably have a square, and honestly, it is way easier to share graphs of designs made on a square than it is other shapes so I stuck with that.

I started with a couple of hearts in different sizes. I mean, you can't go wrong with hearts for Valentine's Day.

Then I thought it would be fun to add letters to the hearts to spell love. Kind of like conversation hearts but only one letter per heart since I was working with a limited space. You could play around with making different letters, to spell different words or even names.

Next I made a pair of lips, and an arrow, like Cupid's arrow.

Then last are probably my favorite, an I ♥️ U, and a heart square with a  gingham background. The heart square would be fun to play around with background designs, you could do stripes, checks, or just a bunch of bright colors in random order with a white heart. There are lots of possibilities to try.

Ever since I shared some Perler bead designs last summer I have wanted to make new ones for each holiday or season, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I am glad I finally got around to it for Valentine's Day. My kids always love when we pull out the Perler Beads and they will spend hours making their different creations. It is fun to see them be creative and it is a great screen free activity. Plus it can be just as addicting for adults.
