Finally, the last of my trio of long-legged crocheted animals. This little cat has been on my calendar to post about for a long time, it has been a month since I posted the last one. Other stuff kept coming up and the cat kept getting pushed back, but not anymore, today is finally the day.
When I decided I wanted to make this little set of animals I started with a bunny because Easter was coming up at the time I was planning the set. Then a bear seemed like the obvious second choice, since teddy bears are probably the most common stuffed animal. In our family all bear stuff ends up with our youngest daughter because her name is Maren and we call her Mare-Bear, or sometimes just Bear, so bears have kind of become her thing.
As I was thinking of what the third animal should be I decided it had to be a cat because my 4 year old loves cats. Mostly because Cat Boy was his favorite from PJ Masks. But now any time we talk about Maren giving the best bear hugs or being our little bear, in order to not be left out he lets us know that he gives kitty hugs and is our little cat. So a cat, and more specifically a blue cat, I decided needed to be the third animal.
The cat is made in the same way as the other two, the head, body, arms, and legs are the same. The only differences are the pointy cat ears, and a long tail. I didn't add tails to the other two, but because a cat has a long tail I thought it might look weird to not put it on, plus my 4 year old is the most literal kid and would have not liked it if I didn't put a tail on because cats have tails. Below is a sneak peek of the last pattern in this series coming soon, hopefully next week.
