Another week of Summer Camp Crafts. This week I decided to do one of my kids favorite crafts, that I think they first tried at a summer camp, and once they did we started buying the supplies for them to do it at home and it became a favorite activity all year round. It is fun because it is something I remember doing as a kid too.
I have shared several Perler Bead designs on my blog. I have seasonal and holiday design, and even some Harry Potter themed designs. I thought about what I could do for this Summer Camp Craft project and I thought, why not do some camp themed designs?
The designs I ended up with are a tree, campfire, tent, canoe, moon, and a s'more. I ran out of tan beads so I had to make the s'more with golden yellow crackers, but hopefully you get the idea.
How to Make Camping Perler Bead Designs
You will need:
- Perler Beads in a variety of colors
- square pegboard (at least 14x14 pegs)
- ironing paper
- iron (I love my Cricut EasyPress Mini for Perler Bead projects)
- optional- fine tip tweezers
Instructions:
Download the Camping Perler Bead patterns.
Place the beads on the pegboard following the graphs.
Lay ironing paper over the pegboard with beads in place.
Iron carefully over the top until the beads are fused together.
Pull the fused design off of the pegboard and flip over, place the ironing paper on top and lightly press the other side of the design.
You can leave the finished pieces as is, or you can add magnets to the back, or attach a keyring.
