Christmas and Winter Tumblers with Vinyl Decals

A couple of weeks ago I was at Walmart and I saw some sets of color changing cups, both hot and cold cups, that I thought were cute colors. They were part of a fall/harvest line but I thought the colors would work well for Christmas or winter designs as well. There was one that is a dark orange color that was definitely more of a fall color and maybe a stretch for winter, but the others were pinks and green and would work well. I grabbed a pack of each, hot and cold, to use as blanks to add vinyl to as a Christmas project. 

I searched designs that were available in Design Space, but there are so many SVG's available for Christmas/winter/holiday designs available so you could definitely upload designs, or even create your own. 

I chose a variety of designs, some word designs, some wintery shapes like snowflakes. I went with a little more of a winter theme with the designs I chose. Sayings like "Let it Snow", "Baby its cold outside", and some hot cocoa themed designs. A couple were more Christmas specific, like the Santa gnome, and the team Santa cups. 

I thought they would be fun as gifts, especially paired with a favorite drink or treat. The hot cups would be perfect for pairing with some hot cocoa, maybe a favorite soda with the cold cups, or fill the cup up with some Christmas candy. 

The color changing part wasn't a huge selling point for me, but I thought I would try it out to see how it worked. My kids loved seeing the colors change, so if you make them for kids that will probably be a big deal. Most of the cups changed really well, neither of the green cups seemed to change colors, but I just used cold water, not ice cold, and the hot water was just as hot as it came out of the tap, so maybe you would have better results with ice water or really hot water. 

How to Make Christmas and Winter Tumblers with Vinyl Decals

You will need:

• Cricut
• permanent vinyl in desired colors 
• transfer tape
• tumblers 

Instructions:

Open Design Space and find the designs that you want to use, or upload or create your own. I used the following designs:

Cut designs out of vinyl and weed.

Use transfer tape to put the designs on the cups. Because of the rounded shape I like to press down the center first and the smooth it out towards the sides. This helps avoid bubbles and wrinkles.
