5 Little Monsters: Weasley Sweater Christmas Ornaments

Weasley Sweater Christmas Ornaments

Another month means time for another Creative Crafts Blog Hop. I was super excited about the theme this month, if you have been following me for awhile you probably know that I am a big Harry Potter fan. I have made lots of Harry Potter themed crafts over the years so when I saw the theme was Harry Potter Holiday Crafts it was right up my alley.

Even though I have done quite a few Harry Potter crafts I hadn't done anything specifically holiday themed and when I first started thinking about it I was kind of drawing a blank. I was struggling to come up with an idea that fit the holiday part of the theme, not just Harry Potter. I mentioned to my husband that I needed to make a Harry Potter themed holiday project and he immediately asked me how I felt about making clothes.

I knew right away that he was thinking of the Weasley sweaters that Molly makes as Christmas gifts, and thought that was the perfect way to tie holiday and Harry Potter together. Of course, the way that I feel about crocheting actual clothing is that it's not really my thing and I especially don't want to have to figure out how to write a pattern for it. But in miniature size, to hang on the tree, that I can do.

Of course, since then I have thought of a ton of different holiday Harry Potter crafts that I could make, and I even went and bought myself a new little Christmas tree so that I could make a whole Harry Potter tree. So, there will likely be more Harry Potter Holiday content coming to 5 Little Monsters over the next few weeks.

But for now, I hope you enjoy the pattern for these little Weasley Sweater ornaments, and be sure to check out all of the fun Harry Potter Holiday crafts shared this week. You can also enter to win a Harry Potter Ornament and a $50 gift card.

Initial

with golden yellow yarn (or desired color) embroider a letter on the front. I did an H, R, F, and G- for Harry, Ron, Fred, and George, but you can do them any color that you want. You could even do the initials of your family members if you want.

Finish off, weave in all ends

Hanger

I wanted to be able to hang my sweaters on a little hanger and was not able to find any that were the right size, so I just made my own.

You want a wire that is easy to bend but sturdy enough to hold its shape. Then just twist it into a hanger shape that is the size you need. I found it easiest to draw a simple hanger shape on a piece of paper that I could use as a guide as I bent the wire. Then just follow the guide to make your hanger, twist the end to secure.

Hang your little sweater on its hanger and then it is ready to put on the tree.
