5 Little Monsters: Crocheted Santa Bear

Crocheted Santa Bear

Back in the fall I made a pumpkin teddy bear and I thought it would be fun to continue to make seasonal or holiday bears. I had a a couple of different Halloween bears planned, but didn't end up getting them done before Halloween. Well I got one done, but it was an complete fail, the picture I had in my mind didn't quite transfer to the finished bear and it was one of my designs that will never make it to the blog. Then I think after that I got a little discouraged with the bears and didn't make the other designs that I had in mind.

But with Christmas just around the corner I didn't want to let another holiday season pass without making another bear. I went with the most obvious Christmas design I could have done, but I thought a Santa Bear would be really cute, and it would go really well with the round shape of the pumpkin bear.

The basic bear pattern is the same as the pumpkin bear so they are the same size and shape, but there are changes in color and accessories.

Santa Bear has on a red coat with white trim, and a Santa hat with white trim and a pompom on the top.

Bear Assembly

Sew the muzzle onto the front of the head below the eyes, lightly stuffing it as you sew it on.

Lightly stuff the ends of the arms and sew to the side of the body between body and head.

Lightly stuff the ends of the legs and stitch them to the bottom of the body. I wanted my bear to be sitting so to determine the proper placement for the legs I just sat the bear body down and put the legs where I wanted them and sewed them in that place.

Pull the hat onto the head and stitch in place.

Sew Pom Pom to top of hat, fold over and stitch down to secure in place.

Add trim around the edge of the hat.

Sew the ears to the top side of the head over the hat, curving them to fit along the head.

Add the trim to the sleeves covering the color change. Stitch the shorter trim down the center front of the coat, and the last long trim piece around the bottom of the coat covering that color change.
