February is here, which means Valentine's Day is coming up fast. As part of this month's Team Creative Crafts collaboration I crocheted some little heart shaped treat bags. Be sure to scroll down to see all of the other Valentine's crafts being shared today, as well as to enter the giveaway.
These little heart bags are super quick to make, and just the right size to hold a few small treats. They are made by crocheting 2 simple hearts, and then stitching them together to with a little handle on the top. Small projects like this are great for using up scraps of yarn.

How to Crochet Heart Treat Bags
You will need:
- worsted weight yarn in desired color (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Baby Pink, Perfect Pink, and Loops and Threads Impeccable in Lippy)
- H crochet hook
- scissors
- yarn needle
Instructions:
You will make 2 hearts, then without cutting the yarn at the end of finishing the 2nd one you will crochet around the edges working through both hearts to stitch them together and make a little pocket open at the top with a chained handle.

Round 1: ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, slip stitch to 3rd ch of beginning ch 5 to join (12 dc, 4 ch spaces)
Round 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc), [(2dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch space, dc in next 3 dc] repeat 2 more times, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch space, dc in next 2 dc, slip stitch to beginning ch 3 (28 dc, 4 ch spaces)
Round 3: slip stitch over to corner ch space, 9 tr 4th dc from corner (center dc), slip stitch in next corner ch space, 9 tr in 4th dc from corner, slip stitch in next corner (2- 9 tr shells)
When finished with the first heart, finish off, cut yarn, and set aside. With the second heart keep yarn and hook attached and move on to the next step.
Assembly
Place the 2 hearts together right sides out, ch 1, sc in the ch space where you joined the last round working through both layers (you will work through bother layers throughout this round), sc in the next 7 sts, 3 sc in corner ch space, sc in next 7 sts, sc in ch space, 2 sc in each of next 4 sts, 1 sc in next st, ch 25, sk next 9 sts, sc in next st (center tr of second shell), 2 sc in each of next 4 st, join with a sl st to first sc, finish off, weave in ends
This little heart bag is so cute! I really need to start crocheting more.
