Halloween Candy Jars

October is here and I have always felt like October is the beginning of the craziest time of the year, the beginning of the holiday season. We have halloween at the end of this month, and then go straight into Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. It is always such a busy time of year with lots of holiday parties, family get-togethers, and school events. And if you are a crafter it is seems especially busy, there are so many projects to make.

This halloween project is one that will only take you minutes to make, and it makes a cute little gift to give. Turn a jar filled with candy into a cute little halloween gift by adding a vinyl face, either a ghost or a Jack 'O Lantern, and a gift tag.

For this project you will need a glass jar, I used pint jars but you could really use any size you want. You will also need candy that is orange or white, I used Reeses Fast Break for my orange candy, and Payday bars for my white candy. These were the best I could find at the grocery store, but you could order candies wrapped in solid color that would look even better, like kisses, foil wrapped chocolates, caramels, mints, or even all one flavor like orange starbursts, fruity tootsie rolls, taffy, etc.

A little bit of black vinyl is used to make a face on the jar, I used my Cricut to cut them out, but they are simple enough shapes that you could totally cut them out with scissors if you don't have a cutting machine. And last but not least I made a couple of tags to tie around the top of the jar with some ribbon or trim. And with that you have a cute little jar of candy ready to gift.

How to Make Halloween Candy Jars

You will need:

Instructions:

I made the faces and tags in Cricut Design Space, you can find the images that I used here: Halloween Candy Jars and Tags . All of the elements that I used are free with a Cricut Access Subscription.

If you want to create your own, or use a different machine, or even scissors you can use any jack o lantern or ghost face to create your faces, like in the image below. Size them to fit the jars you are using. I cut mine about 2" wide for a pint size canning jar.

The tags, available in the same design space file, where made using the Cricut Print and Cut feature.

Cut the faces out of black vinyl and weed.

Cut the tags out of white cardstock, following the instructions on the Cricut to print then cut out the tags.

Use transfer tape to put the faces on the jars.

Fill the jars with candy, orange in the pumpkin jar, white in the ghost jar.

Put the lids on the jar and tie a ribbon or piece of trim around the top of the jar, using it to attach the tag.
