For Day 17 of the Mini Amigurumi Advent I chose one to make one of the most classic Christmas symbols of all, the Star.
The Star is a traditional 5 pointed star, about 4 inches across.
Like all of the projects in this series it is worked in a stuffed 3D shape, amigurumi style. The construction is a little different than the rest of the amigurumi. Instead of making pieces and sewing them together you will start with 2 small circles that make the centers of the star, then crochet the points onto the centers to make the 3D shape. Stitch markers are a big help when it comes to keeping track of the stitches in this project.
Just like the others, I added a little smiley face to the center of the star using small safety eyes and a little embroidered mouth.
How to Crochet an Amigurumi Star
Finished Size: 4" across
You will need:
- medium weight yarn in yellow (Sample made with Red Heart Super Saver in Bright Yellow )
- G Crochet Hook (4.25 mm)
- 2- 6mm safety eyes
- fiberfill
- yarn needle
- stitch markers (5)
Instructions:
Star Centers
Make 2 with yellow yarn, beginning with magic ring
Round 1: in mr, ch 1, 5 sc (5 sc)
Round 2: 2 sc in each st (10 sc)
Round 3: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st] repeat around (15 sc)
Round 4: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat around (20 sc)
Round 5: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 3 sts] repeat around (25 sc)
On one circle add the safety eyes and embroider a mouth
Place both circles together, right sides out, and insert a stitch marker in every 5th stitch through both layers
Star Points
Continue working with yellow yarn, you will work through both layer in each of the stitches with a stitch marker, and in one layer between markers. Each stitch marked with a stitch marker will be worked in twice (the stitch maker is the "valley" between the two points)
Round 1: start in one of the stitch marker stitches, sc through both layers in the st with the stitch marker, sc through 1 layer in the next 4, sc through both layer of next st (with stitch marker), turn so you are working along the other side, 1 sc in the next 4 sts working through 1 layer (10 sc)
Round 2: [sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sts] repeat (8 sc)
Round 3: [sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat (6 sc)
Round 4: [sc2tog, 1 sc in next st] repeat (4 sc)
Finish off and weave in end, stuff the points as you work
Repeat the point 4 more times, each time starting in the second marked stitch of the point before
I want all of them how do I get them?
