Summer time means outings to the pool, parks, and other places where you are going to have to carry all the things with you- towels, sunscreen, snacks, water bottles, etc. So who couldn't use a fun tote bag to carry it all in?
I saw some plain tote bags with colored bottoms one day when I was at Micheal's picking up some supplies I needed for another project. The colors were bright and fun and I immediately thought of a couple of ideas for tote bags, so I grabbed a couple.
I chose one white bag with a yellow base, and one with a navy base. The yellow one screamed summer to me so I knew I wanted to use that one for a summer themed tote bag. I made a different design for the navy bag that I will share soon.
I found a summery design in Cricut Design Space that I thought would work and chose some summery colors of iron on. I cut it out and in no time at all I had a new summer tote bag.
How to Make a Summer Tote Bag
You will need:
- Cricut Machine
- Iron On Vinyl in desired colors (I used Cricut Everyday Iron On in Party Pink, Ocean, and Yellow)
- EasyPress and Mat (or heat press or iron)
- Tote Bag
Instructions:
Open the Summer Vibes Tote Bag Design Space Project, or choose the design that you want to use.
Measure your bag and the area that you want the design, resize as needed to fit the bag.
Cut the design out, don't forget to mirror the design.
Press the design onto the tote bag one color at a time (or trim the plastic backing close to the vinyl to make sure it does not overlap any of your iron on). Make sure all of the iron on is covered as you press each layer, I usually just reuse the same plastic backing that I just peeled off.
