Creamy Clusters Crocheted Dishcloth

I haven't shared a dishcloth pattern for a while and I decided it was time. I have a few bigger projects coming up that I have been working on and I wanted to make something quick and easy and dishcloths seemed like the perfect thing. 

This set of dishcloths is made with a simple double crochet cluster stitch. It is an easy stitch to do, one of those kind of mindless repetitive stitches that you can easily do while watching tv or listening to an audiobook. There isn't really any counting or keeping track of stitches. 

With school starting back up a couple of weeks ago it was also the perfect project to take with me to school pickup to work on while I waited for the bell to ring and the kids to come. 

I used Peaches and Cream yarn for this set, one stripes and one solid, but you could use any worsted weight cotton yarn. I did find that although the two cloths in my set were made with the same brand of yarn they did not come out the same size. The stripes version of the yarn is a little thinner than the solid so that cloth turned out a little bit smaller than the other. 

One more little note with this pattern, the cluster stitches are a little wider than a normal stitch would be so I found that you need to make sure to do your beginning chain very loose. If you have a hard time getting it loose enough you may want to go up a hook size or 2 to make the beginning chain. If the chain is too tight the bottom of your dishcloth will be pulled in tighter than the rest and you will end up with a funky shaped dishcloth. 

How to Crochet the Creamy Clusters Dishcloth

You will need:

• 1 ball worsted weight cotton yarn
• H crochet hook
• yarn needle

Instructions:

The cloths I made are between 9"-10" square but you can easily adjust the size to be smaller or larger by beginning with a shorter chain for a smaller cloth, or a longer chain for a larger cloth. Then do more rows for a larger cloth or fewer rows for a smaller cloth. 

Cluster Stitch: yo, insert hook in st, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, insert hook in same st, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through 3 loops

* Be sure to crochet your beginning chain very loosely, size up your hook if necessary

 ch 26 loosely

Row 1: 1 cluster in 3rd ch from hook, 1 cluster in each ch to the end (24 clusters)

Row 2-15: ch 2, turn, 1 cluster in each st (24 clusters)

ch 1, turn 90 degrees, sc evenly down the side, 3 sc in corner, sc in each st along bottom, 3 sc in corner, sc evenly up 2nd side, 3 sc in corner, sc in each st across top, 2 sc in same corner as first st, sl st to first sc to join 

Finish off, cut yarn and weave in ends
