I love fall, it is my favorite season. I love the colors of the season, the cooler temperatures, the leaves, the holidays, all of it. There is just something magical about fall. School has started up and even though it is still technically summer for a while and the temperatures still feel like summer, I am ready to start thinking about fall.
I have a few halloween projects that I have been working on and will be sharing in the sext few weeks, but I realized I hadn't really been working on fall projects. I went to the craft store the other day to pick up something I needed for a project I was working on, and I spent a little time just wandering the aisles looking at the fall decor and craft stuff that they had out, as well as just looking as craft supplies and it made me want to make something fall-ish.
When I get that itch to make a quick craft Cricut crafts are kind of my go-to craft type. Crochet projects and sewing projects tend to take more time, but a vinyl or iron on craft is often really quick to make.
I picked up a blank square plaque while I was at the craft store, I already had black vinyl and transfer tape at home, and that was pretty much everything I needed for this quick project.
I cut out the design using my Cricut Maker and Cricut Smart Vinyl, although any adhesive vinyl would work. Then it was just a matter of weeding the design and using transfer tape to apply it to the plaque. The plaque I got was already colors that I was happy with, white in the center with a stained frame, so there was no painting or prep required there. It was super easy to make and done in no time at all.
How to Make a Fall is in the Air Sign
You will need:
Resize if needed to fit the sign you are using. My favorite way to do this is to make a square (or whatever shape your sign is) and size it to the size of your plaque. Then put the image on top of the square and resize the image to the size that fits best. That way I can visualize exactly how I want it to look (space around the edge, etc.)
Cut the design out of vinyl and weed. I used Cricut Smart Vinyl with my Cricut Maker 3 so I did not use a mat to cut out my design, but you can use any adhesive vinyl, using a mat if not using smart vinyl.
Apply transfer tape over the cut and weeded design, and peel off of backing paper.
Use the transfer tape to apply the design to the wooden plaque.
