Today is the final day of the Fall 2023 Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along, day 12. So far this Halloween themed crochet along has included a pumpkin, a ghost, a bubbling cauldron, a mummy, a candy corn, a bottle of potion, a little bat, a witch, a spider, a vampire, and a caramel apple. For the final pattern in the set we are adding a little Frankenstein Mini Monster.
I made the little Frankenstein Monster with the same body style as the mummy, but with a few more color changes. The legs are made first and then attached together to start the body.
The hair is made by alternating regular single crochet stitches with spike single crochet stitches that are worked one row below the others. This gives it the spiky look coming onto his head.
Just like all of the others the little monster has a face made of tiny safety eyes and an embroidered smile, but in addition to that he also has a little stitched scar on the side of his head. To finish him off I add a couple of little gray "screws" to the side of his neck, to complete the Frankenstein look.
I love seeing the whole set together and thought it was especially fun to see all of the little Halloween characters together, the Ghost, the Witch, the Mummy, the Vampire, and finally the little Frankenstein Monster.

How to Crochet a Mini Monster
Finished Size: about 5" tall
You will need:
- medium weight yarn in green, black, gray, brown, and purple (or colors you want for the clothes) (sample made in Red Heart Super Saver in Tea Leaf, Dusty Gray, and Loops and Threads Impeccable in Charcoal, Barley, and Lavender)
- G crochet hook (4 mm)
- 2- 6 mm safety eyes
- black embroidery floss and embroidery needle
- Polyfil fiberfill
- yarn needle
- stitch markers

Instructions:
All of the pieces except the screw are made in the round beginning with a magic ring.
You will make the legs first, set one aside, make the second, then without cutting your yarn you will continue making the body by joining the legs and working up in one piece.
Special Stitch:
Spike Stitch- instead of working your single crochet into the previous round as normal, you will work the stitch one row below, in the same stitch the previous round is worked into (in this pattern the spike stitches are made in round 14, so instead of working into the top of the stitch from round 13 like you normally would you will work into the top of the stitch from round 12)
