I have been looking forward to today for a while, it is Day 1 of the Fall 2023 Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along. This is my third Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along of the Year. First we had Spring version which which was a farm animal theme. Then the Summer version with a camping theme, and now the fall version which is a Halloween theme.

Like there other 2 this crochet along will include 12 different designs released over the course of 2 weeks, with today being the first day/pattern release. Each design will be somewhere around 3"-4" tall or wide. Since they are going to be all different shapes there will be some variation in the sizes, but they will all small, since this is a "mini" amigurumi crochet along.

For the first design of this Halloween themed crochet along I decided to go with one of the most Halloween/fall things there is- a pumpkin. It is probably the first thing that I think of when I think of that time of year so I thought it fitting that it be the first item in the crochet along.

I debated whether I should do a traditional Jack o' lantern face with triangle eyes and big mouth, or stick with the same little safety eyes and embroidered smile that I have done on most of my mini amigurumi. I decided to stick with the same face I have done on others. I used tiny safety eyes, and then embroidered a little smile. If you want to do a Jack o' Lantern face I would recommend cutting the shapes out of felt and gluing them on because it would be really hard to make crocheted shapes that tiny.

Round 16: [sc2tog, sc in next st] repeat around (12 sc)
Round 17: sc2tog around (6 sc)

Finish off and cut yarn leaving a very long tail

Thread your yarn needle onto the tail and stitch down through the center of the pumpkin and out the bottom, wrap the yarn back up to the top and stitch back down through the center from the top to the bottom pulling snug so it slightly indents the pumpkin, repeat as many times as desired wrapping around the pumpkin to make the bumps (I wrapped the yarn around the pumpkin 5 times), weave in yarn to finish

Stem

Make 1 with brown or green yarn beginning with magic ring

Round 1: in mr, ch 1, 6 sc (6 sc)
Round 2: 1 sc in each st (6 sc)
Round 3: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat around (8 sc)

Finish off and cut yarn leaving long tail for sewing

Sew the stem to the top of the pumpkin
