It is time for the first Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along of the year, the Spring 2024 Mini Amiguurmi Crochet Along. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you may remember that a few months ago I put out a post with 4 options for you to vote on to choose the theme of this spring crochet along. I tallied up all of the vote from all of the posts and although it was really close there was definitely a winner. The theme for this year's spring crochet along is...
I wasn't sure what to call this theme so in the polls it was just called Bugs, Birds, and Little Creatures. But what I was envisioning was things you might see in the spring around a pond. Lots of little bugs, birds, maybe some turtles or frogs, little animals like that. Someone in the comments suggested the name Pond Pals and I decided I liked that and chose to go with it. If that was you, thanks!
It was really close between this theme and the Fairytale theme, in fact one won on Facebook and the other won on Instagram, but when adding all of the votes together the bugs and birds and little creatures came out on top. I chose 4 themes that I would have been happy making regardless of which one won, and there were reasons why I wanted each one to be the winner. I obviously couldn't decide between them which is why I had you vote on it, but I was really happy this theme won because it was the most "spring" theme in my mind.
So now for the crochet along details:
When- The 2024 Spring Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along will begin on Monday April 1. It will run for 2 weeks, ending on April 13. One pattern will be released each day from Monday-Saturday, with no new pattern on Sunday.
How Does it Work- A new pattern will be released each day of the crochet along for a Mini Amigurumi that fits the theme (in this case Pond Pals). The pattern will be posted for free on my blog, where it will remain indefinitely, this means that you can join or start up at any time, even after the crochet along is over. I will post the link to the new pattern each day on social media, as well as at the end of this post (this will be sort of a landing page for the crochet along). Once all 12 patterns have been posted I will release an ebook that will be available for purchase on Etsy and Ravelry that will include all 12 patterns. This is a great option for anyone who wants an ad-free, printable, PDF version of the patterns with all 12 in one place, but they will still remain free on my blog on their individual posts

What do you need- As far as supplies go this is a great project for using up scrap yarns that you may have in your stash, and for a lot of the projects you can use any color you want, but below are a few suggestions for yarn colors you may want to have, as well as some other supplies.
- worsted weight yarn in a variety of colors, you will be making bugs, birds, and other little animals so there will be a variety of greens, yellow, red, blue, black, white, and other colors you want to use (I use worsted weight acrylic- mostly Red Heart Super Saver, Loops & Threads Impeccable, Big Twist Value Worsted, or other similar yarns)
- G crochet hook (4/4.25 mm)
- 6 mm safety eyes (if you don't want to use safety eyes you can embroider them instead)
- stuffing
- embroidery floss and needle (I mostly use black, but you may also use pink or red for mouths)
- yarn needle
- stitch markers
Super excited!!
