We are all the way to day 5 of the Pond Pals Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along. I can't believe we are already almost done with the first week. Tomorrow is the halfway point. Today's animal is a little Teensy Turtle.
I already have a pattern for Tiny Turtles and I originally put this little turtle on my calendar as Tiny Turtle, but then I realized I already had a pattern with that name and I needed to change it, so I went with Teensy Turtle instead.
This pattern is very similar to the Tiny Turtles pattern, but I switched up a few things. The shell is a little smaller in diameter, but a little taller in height. Also on this one I added a round of reverse double crochet stitches around the edge of the shell.
The turtle is made in a few pieces, the belly is made first, then the shell. When you are almost finished with the shell you will place the belly in the opening and stitch the 2 layers together. Then the head, legs, and tail are sewn onto the shell/belly piece. The tail is not shown in the picture, I debated whether or not to add a tail and once I got it all put together I decided it needed a little tail, so I added it after the fact.
The finished turtle is about 5 inches long from head to tail, and the shell is about 3 inches in diameter. Just like the others, the turtle has a little smiling face with tiny safety eyes and a little embroidered smile. Now with the turtle we have a Dragonfly, an Ant, a Hummingbird, a worm, and a turtle. Seven more to go!
