It is Day 2 of the Little Dinos Summer 2024 Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along, and today's dinosaur is a Little Longneck.

When I was coming up with the dinosaurs for this crochet along and thinking about what to call them this was one of the ones that got me really stuck. When I was growing up long neck dinosaurs were Brontosaurus, then we were told that wasn't actually true, they were really Apatosaurus. Then you throw in Brachiosaurus, Diplodocus, and Argentinosaurus, and all of the other long neck dinosaurs and since my tiny crocheted dinosaur is by no means detailed enough to differentiate exactly which kind of long neck dinosaur it is. I just decided to stick with Little Long Neck and ultimately use more nick name type names for the dinosaurs instead of their real names. You can choose for yourself which long neck dinosaur you are making.

The little long neck is made in several small pieces. The body and tail is one piece, the head and neck another. Then the nose and the 4 little legs are all made separately and sewn on. It is all made in one color and like the others has a face made with safety eyes, and you can stitch on a little smile. I honestly didn't realize until I was editing pictures that I hadn't embroidered a smile on this one. So I did intend to have a smile on it, but I thought it looked fine without it and didn't want to retake all of the pictures.

Like the Little Stegosaurus, and all of the designs in this series, I used the pastel version of the Red Heart Super Saver Super Craft Kit that came with 12 mini skeins of Red Heart Super Saver. For this dinosaur I used the Pale Plum color. You can use any similar worsted weight yarn, including using up whatever you have in your stash. And like I mentioned before I am using all different colors for the dinosaurs, so if you don't want a purple longneck, you can use any color you want.

Two Little Dinos down, 10 more to go. Come back tomorrow to see what is next.
