I have always loved reading, although lately I spend more time listening to audiobooks than I do reading physical books. But either way I love books. I was the kid that would always stay up way too late finishing my book and always had a stack of books to read. I also loved having books and making my own little library on my bookshelf. I would alphabetize my books and even making little checkout cards to put inside my books.
When the weather starts to turn cold I feel like there is nothing better than curling up with a good book, and a fun reading themed sweatshirt might make it even better. Sweatshirts, blankets, and books all kind of have that same cozy vibe to me.
I thought that this sweatshirt might be a fun gift to make for any readers on your gift list too. I have a couple of those and I think they would love a cute reading themed shirt to wear.
Shirts are a super quick project to throw together with the help of a Cricut. All I needed was an inexpensive plain sweatshirt I picked up at Walmart, and some iron on vinyl. I chose a light creamy tan shirt with black iron on. Since it was a dictionary definition I thought those colors worked really well to kind of mimic the look of type on a book page.
How to Make a Bibliophile Sweatshirt
You will need:
- cream or light tan sweatshirt (I used this shirt from Walmart)
- Cricut
- black iron on vinyl
- EasyPress and mat (or other heat press or iron)
Instructions:
I used a design that is available in Design Space for this shirt, but I edited it to be only the portion of the design that I wanted. You can find my project HERE. The design I used is included in Cricut Access or can be purchased for $0.99. Or if you want you could choose your own fonts and type the words in any font you want to recreate it.
Resize as needed to fit your shirt.
Cut out the design, don't forget to mirror, and weed.
Press the design onto the front of your sweatshirt.
