Today is Day 9 of the Little Nativity Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along. That means we are already three-quarters of the way done. The last 3 days have been the 3 Wisemen, so today we are kind of finishing up the Wisemen with a Little Camel.
I have wanted to make a camel for my original nativity set for years but it has always been super intimidating for some reason, so I have put it off forever. Luckily this time I couldn't make any excuses to put it off because I had to have a camel in the set. It really wasn't too bad at all. It is made very similar to the camel as far as construction. The head is made the same but with a longer neck, the body and legs are also the same but a little longer. I wanted the camel to be slightly taller and bigger than the donkey. I also added a little cover on the hump and a harness.
I used a tan color for the camel (Loops & Threads Impeccable Soft Taupe) with a slightly lighter tan for the nose and the end of the tail (Loops & Threads Impeccable Almond), and a brown for the hooves (Loops & Threads Soft Classic Coffee). For the accessories I used a different shade of brown for the harness (Loops & Threads Impeccable Walnut), and for the little blanket over the hump I used red and gold (Loops & Threads Impeccable Claret and Gold).
9 days done, so far there is Mary, Joseph, a Donkey, a Shepherd, a Sheep, 3 Wisemen, and a Camel. Only 3 more days to go. Come back tomorrow to see what is next.
