It is day 8 of the Little Nativity crochet along and I'm sure after the last two days that today 's pattern will not be a big surprise. Today Little Wiseman number 3.
For the third and final wiseman I switched it up a little bit by giving him a cape instead of a robe. It is basically the same as the robe but the arms are on the inside instead of the outside. Then for the headdress I decided to go with a crown with a cover in the center. He is holding a little round box for his gift.
For this Wiseman I decided to use purples for the clothing with a little bit of red for the head covering. I also used a different tan for the skin (Red Heart Super Save Buff), and brown for the beard (Red Heart Super Saver Coffee). I used a darker purple inner robe/body color (Loops & Threads Impeccable Amethyst), a lighter purple for the cape (Loops & Threads Impeccable Violet) with some white trim, red for the inner part of the crown/head covering (Loops & Threads Impeccable Claret), and a gold color for the crown (Loops & Threads Impeccable Gold). I used brown for the little box that he is holding (Loops & Threads Impeccable Walnut).
This completes the set of 3 wisemen. Tomorrow will bring something new. Be sure to check back in to see what it is.

How to Crochet a Little Wiseman 3
Finished Size about 4" tall
You will need:
- Worsted weight yarn in 8 colors- skin tone, hair color, 5 colors for clothing/crown, and one for the gift (Sample made with Loops & Threads Impeccable in Gold, Walnut, Claret, Amethyst, and Violet, and Red Heart Super Saver in Soft White, Coffee, and Buff)
- G crochet hook (4/4.25 mm)
- 2- 6mm safety eyes
- stuffing
- yarn needle
- stitch markers
- scissors
- optional: if you want to add weighted bases to you figures you will need some scrap fabric and Poly-Pellets
Instructions:
Some of the pieces are made beginning with a magic ring, other start with a chain, which is indicated at the beginning of the pattern for that piece.
*If you want to add weighted bases to the bottom of your figures you can cut out a circle of fabric about 3" in diameter, work a running stitch all the way around the outside edge, cinch it to make a little bowl shape, add a little bit of poly-pellets to the circle, then cinch closed. The base of the figure is only about 1.5" in diameter so it needs to be kept pretty small. If using a weighted base place it in the bottom of the figure when the pattern says to begin stuffing, the continue with stuffing. This does help keep your figures upright easier but is an optional step. Below is a video that shows the process, just keep in mind that this one would need to be a lot smaller than the one in the video.
