Valentine's Day is just around the corner so it is time for some printable Valentine cards. I have a few different cards that I have made this year, to go along with a few different themes, and this maze themed card is the first one for this year.

Each year I try to find some inexpensive, non-candy items that can be paired with a valentine card. This started for me when nearly 6 years ago my little first grader was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. After that diagnosis candy became a little bit of a difficult thing for her. She could have it, but only if she had insulin to cover it, and she really preferred not to most of the time. When eating a piece of candy means getting a shot, a class party full of cookies and candy is all of the sudden a lot less fun, especially when you are only 7 or 8 years old. Those candy heavy holidays were a little hard for her and any time there was a non-candy option available to her she always chose that and loved it. She would pick the pencils or spider rings over the candy every time it was offered on Halloween, loved having little toys or things in an Easter basket or eggs, etc. So when Valentines rolled around for the first time post diagnosis I wanted to get something that she could pass out for her friends that was like what she would want to receive, not food or candy of any kind.

I always try to find items that are fairly inexpensive because I want something that is not too crazy expensive to do for a whole class of 25 or 30 kids. My goal has always been to keep it under $1 per item, but the cheaper the better. I have done several things over the years, stickers, fidgets, dinosaurs, cars, Lego type building sets, lip balm, and lots of other things. This particular valentine is Maze themed.

I found some little maze cube keychains on Amazon that were about $20 for a box of 50. That makes them less than 50 cents each which is definitely within the under $1 goal that I have. Plus there is more than enough in a box to give to a full class, maybe even two.

You could also get the little flat maze games that come in different shapes, like hearts, circles, and squares.  Or, the other option since the card itself has a maze on it, you could just pair it with a little pen or pencil that the kids can use to do the maze on the card. At 6-12 for $1 those would be an even cheaper option.

These cards come in one design that says "You are a-MAZE-ing!" and has a little round maze in the middle. They print in a page of 6 cards that can be cut apart and paired with the little maze toys, pens, or pencils.
